Super Mario RPG: XP Project Teaser Video

"What you are about to see are clips from the upcoming C-Division and U Division collaborative project, codenamed "Mario XP." This game is still in the early alpha stages of development, and the video you are about to see represents only four days of work on the project. It's still very rough, and elements you see here may not end up in the final version of the project."

Announcing Official Forum!

In order to more effectively communicate and interact with or fanbase, ICU Gigaosft has created a dedicatd forum. As of now we have threads on several sites, comments and messages on a lot of YouTube vidoes, and comments from the blogs. While this is a positive amount of feedback, it is difficult for us to check all these different outlets in a timely manner. With one centralized forum we hope to facilitate the process of user feedback and our ability respond.

With that being said, we encourage you to hop over to the forum and register!

Version 1.3 Glitch Will be fixed with V. 1.4

It's come to our attention that a game freezing glitch halts progress after the first Bowser cutscene in version 1.3. This will be fixed with version 1.4 (which also fixes a few minor bugs) as soon as we get our comptuer with the Mario project files working. As for now, there isn't any else to do but wait. On the bright side, for all of you who are asking, your save file WILL ALWAYS BE USABLE with updated versions. Sorry that this happened, but we assure you it will be fixed in the near future.

Page Down

*In order to avoid confusion over download links and updates, this page will always have the latest download method for Mario.

CURRENT VERSION: v1.3 (08-18-09)

Instructions

First, download

WinRar

REAL Part 1
Part 2

Then, after having installed WinRar use it to extract the .exe file. It will automatically extract both parts.

IMPORTANT: In order to use your old save file, the folder that you extract Mario to must have the same name as the
folder in "My Documents" that contains your save files. For most of you, this will automatically be done, but if you experience
problems in using your old save file this is how to fix it.

Known bugs and how to get by them

First off, thank you for the feedback that has made it possible to address these issues. Despite all of our beta-testing, there are still bugs creeping up here and there. If any are serious, please comment and tell us about them so we can fix them. We will be correcting these mistakes as fast as we can.

Sever/Game Breaking
*In Coniferious Confusion on the map where you have to fight the correct Gloomba, do not get a pre-ememptive strike against them, or it could mess up. (FIXED IN NEW VERSION)

Minor
*
If you downloaded the first version of the game, the room after the Goombaron has messed up water tiles. Simply walk down into the black covering and them make your way to the pipe. You won't be able to fight the Question Block unless you download the new version.
*In level 2 of Super Mario Bros. EX there are passability issues that allow the player to walk where they shouldn't be able to. This doesn't break or mess up the game though.

Known Grammar/Spelling Mistakes
*The Toad Jehu T. in Toad Town says "futre" instead of future.
*Re-ali T. says "konw" instead of know.
*In the second level of Super Mario Bros. EX it says use the Z "buttton" instead of button

Super Mario RPG: The Seven Sages IS OUT!

*In Coniferious Confusion on the map where you have to fight the correct gloomba, do not get a prememptive strike against them, or it could mess up.*

Sorry for the delay, but an unexpected family event came up this morning and lasted through the afternoon. But with that aside...

Super Mario RPG: The Seven Sages has now finally been released.

It's been a while, but it's finally here. Please download it and post feedback and share your thoughts on the game. There will also be changing polls on the website so vote on those too.

A few notes...

-This is version 1.0. Updates will follow eventually
-Sage skills are very useful. Don't forget about them.
-There are a good amount of side things to do which add to the game
-This is a mashup of all the mario rpgs so its not a sequel, no Mario & Luigi RPG 4!!. It's random and the characters that it uses are random and most of their roles are random. (Not all of them.)

Thanks.

IF ANYONE WOULD BE INTERESTED IN WRITING A FAQ, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

August 8, 2009: MARIO RELEASE DATE!! (Also Promotional Trailer)

This Saturday, the 8th, Super Mario RPG: The Seven Sages will be available for download. After 4 years of wait, (1 year of real working), the game is completed. To add to the hype here is a promotional video made is Adobe Premiere, not lame Window's Movie Maker.

If you have comments you know what to do.

Beta Testing...

The fun part right? No so much, but very neccessary. The title explains it all so I don't feel I need to elaborate much more. We're still looking at an August release along with a cool promotional video hopefully. Thank you to all those who have offered to help with beta testing and other things, but I think we can take care of it. Besides, wouldn't it be more enjoyable for you all to play a "perfect" release than find a bug a minute and have to tell me about it, disrupting the flow of game and making it less fun. I dunno, I'm just saying...

Comments and concerns if you want to.

EDIT: Playing through the game again makes me realize how much better the battle system gets as you go along, earning new skills, suits, and other stuff. I also realize that when the demo ended, not much of this had been tapped into. I'm looking forward to the full release almost as much as you are to play it! If you at all enjoyed the demo, the game shouldn't disappoint.

Mario is finished...almost...

It's a half-truth. The main quest is now finished and all I need to do is add a couple of side quest bosses until the game is completely done. But then of course I need to beta test as well. The earlier stated release time frame is still accurate. If any changes come up I'll be sure to tell you.

If you have questions or concerns, feel free to tell me.

450+ Maps for Mario!

...And counting. Zelda:CPW had about 345 maps total to put it in perspective, I guess. Currently We're at the the part before the final dungeon thing, which is before before the final boss. You've had seven sages for a little bit now so the game doesn't end there. Right now I'm going back and adding some more side stuff, secret weapons and equipments. For the really secret equipments a few bosses will actually be harder than the final boss, for those who like to overtrain.

Comment if you'd like to.

Update: Early June

Okay, since summer's been going on I've been getting more work done than in school. It's not as much as I could, but a good amount. The Main Story programming is getting close to the end, but there's some stuff we plan to do in terms of side quests after we finish the main story. (Secret Bosses, Weapons, Dark Bowser, etc.) I don't want to jump the gun but we should be looking at a July-August release. Again, the date is not yet known.

I can't give away the story at the end of the game, but you've already obtained all 7 Sages and now some final stuff is happening. There's a twist at the end, but it's not huge. That's what's I'm working on right now. There area also some cool bosses we're doing as well that try to make full use of RPG Maker's capabilities. For the bosses we use that appear in other Mario rpg games we've done research (on youtube) to make the battle similar.

One final point, our game is a mash-up of the Mario universe. It has characters and villains from all over so there is no direct story line. It's not a sequel to the Mario & Luigi series nor a sequel to Paper Mario or anything like that. This is a heads up so you don't try to place it as directly linked to a real Mario rpg game. I kind of enjoy the mash-up style more in this case than doing a direct sequel. If you have comments, comment.

The Final Stretch, Hopefully

I haven't been able to focus on Mario for this past week and a half because of exams, but now they're finally over for me!

This means that we'll be working extra hard on Mario now with little distraction and should have it released from Mid-Late Summer! I still do not have an exact date yet though. Comment and question if you want to.

Shroom Stuff 5: Dark Bowser

Following up on the other post, here comes Shroom Stuff 5. This will be the last Shroom Stuff so you'll just have to wait for the release of the game this summer to quench your needs.

This video just shows some skill moves of the special suit. The suit will not be part of the main story, you will have to obtain it through side quests and stuff. Most of the suits are like that anyway. Not much else to say, so enjoy!

More Update Stuff; Bowser

This is just another progress update as Mario comes along. First order of business, Bowser's special class uses the sprites from a boss from Mario & Luigi RPG 3!! This class will be a secret and be very powerful. It's one of those rewards for those who go the extra mile. Once all his moves are finished there will most likely be another installment of Shroom Stuff to show him off. It should be fairly impressive.

In terms of progress, the main story is nearing the end of the 6th sage, but there is still a good amount of side things we are still adding. Percentage wise, I would say that we are about at 75% of the game being complete. You should still expect it during this summer.

Mario and Zelda 1000+ Downloads!

The title sums it up. The Legend of Zelda: Courage, Power, and Wisdom currently has 1062 downloads, while Super Mario RPG: Seven Sages DEMO currently has 985 downloads, close enough to 1000. The latter is more impressive because it' had less time to get to this number so the download rate is higher. A sign of good things to come when the full game comes out I suppose. Because of this good news, tonight we celebrate.

Comment if you want to.

Shroom Stuff 4: Track Tactics

C-Division,

Shroom Stuff Video Four.

In this video you see the Mine Cart minigame. It takes place during the main story and is pretty simple and stright foward. You have to dodge the rocks and get the mushrooms. Look at the video for further details.

Comment if you want to.

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

Shroom Stuff 3: Surfing Bros

C-Division,

Shroom Stuff Video Three.

In this video we show off the surfing mini-game. It takes place during the main story line and you collect mushrooms for a higher score. We will most likely still add stuff so this isn't the final project.

Tell us what you think.

Shroom Stuff 2: Battle Showcase

C-Division,

Shroom Stuff Video Dos(Two).

This will probably be the most exciting "Shroom Stuff" video. Why? Because it's all about the fighting. This vid shows off the new Bowser sprites first with some of his finalized special moves. If that's not good enough it then shows off the suit skills. If you want to know exactly what I mean, check out the video.

Comments are helpful.

Shroom Stuff 1: Mario's Cloud Nine

Introducing: Shroom Stuff.

We are now starting a string of small videos showing off some more features of the game. The first one is Mario's Cloud Nine, a shooter type mini game you play during the adventure. Coming up we'll have different aspects to show, like the battle system in its final stages.

Update: New Bowser Sprites

It's been a while, but I've been hard at work mostly during this time. We just finished up going to Bowser's Castle for a special reason and we are still on 5th sage. I just wanted to make another update about Bowser and clarify some things.

We are chaning Bowser's In Battle Sprites. I'm sure most of you know that Mario & Luigi RPG 3!! was just realeased in Japan and there are new Bowser battle sprites. We will be switching to those now for Bowser. He orignally had battle sprites from superstar saga but they look too different from Bowser's world sprites. Bowser's world sprites will remain an edit from Mario: PIT. Only his battle sprites are being changed. The PIT sprites and these new battle sprites look very similar so it's not worth the work to also change his world spirtes, and it is a lot of work.

So for anyone who thought it was weird how Bowser looked different in the world and battle scenes, you can relax now. These new sprites should make Bowser's moves look a lot better. We'll probably show pics or a video once we finish changing him.

Progress Report

Back again with a little progress update. We've been doing a lot of work recently on Mario.

-We just finished the fourth sage. Game time now isn't accurate because of the amount of areas and sidequests we plan to add between the Sages. I, C-Divison, am programming the Main Story straight through and then we will go back and add all we intend to.

-Mario's suits' abilities are now all completed. There are seven suits for Mario and Luigi with mostly 2 extra skills. That equals a lot of long battle animations but it looks good. Luigi still has two more suits that need the skills to be made. Mr. L and Poltergust 3000 :).

-The battle system is complete and lacking only specific monster skills.

-Badges are complete.

-Earlier scenes of the game have been revamped to match the quality of the later scenes we've made. (Almost all the scenes shown demo are now at least a little better.)

-Surfing, Submarine, etc. Minigames have been completed and implemented to the Main story.

-Mario should be released at the very latest in summer. We should hopefully have it finished before then though.

These are some of the main points that we've done on Mario these past couple of months and it's coming along nicely. Any questions or concerns will be greatly appreciated.

5000 Hits! Break is Over!

Half of 10,000 sounds pretty good to me. U-Division is still in another league when it comes to number of website hits though.

Anyway, now that the break is over I can get back to work again. Things are coming along fine and hopefully there can be another Mario demo soon. Keep your fingers crossed.
